Beautiful Grey at Newport Beach

California has been amazing.  I think I jinxed the good weather :[ It's been gloomy and chilly, but it has not stopped me from having fun.  I love having the windows down when I'm in the car because you get to meet the most interesting people on the road! Sometimes in mere seconds of stopping, the old man next to you would ask you to "Blow your smoke over this way, I've quit smoking but I still love the smell."  Then before the car zoomed off, he pulled out a toy butterfly and yelled out "Oh look! A Butterfly."

I did not carry my camera around but my friend did take some pictures of me at Newport Beach.  I sat on the rocks for a long time watching the waves and people who were attempting to surf but failed.  The beautiful sound of ocean waves hitting on the rocks mixed with the salty ocean smell was the perfect setting to empty your head and just think about absolutely nothing.

a great goodbye present from boston: Bassnectar

I am not a fan of wub wub wub dubstep, but bassnectar was such a great performer.  House of Blue's lights and graphics were insane.  I have not felt this happy in a very long time.  cheers to live music (:

I 've realized that I have some of the most amazing people around me who are extremely passionate about life.  I think i'll miss Boston while I'm gone.  I seriously cannot wait until next year. (:

TIME TO PACK UP THE DORM!!

breezy new york finds

It was spontaneous.  It was exhausting.  It was worth every penny.  My girls and I decided to do an out of the blue trip to New York city.  It was only for a day and a half since I had to work Sunday night, but I enjoyed every second of my visit.

We stayed at Ameritania At Times Square.  It was boutique, modern, and location-worthy.  The best part was that a Starbucks was only a few steps away.  (Caffeine addicts :/)

The spring weather was amazing.  The breeze and sunshine could not have been more perfect.  I found a cute pastel button down, and a pair of vintage Levi shorts I've been longing for.

Off the bus- straight to Starbucks

To Speak or Not to Speak?

Sometimes I have a whole "speech" prepared, but end up swallowing it down deep inside my stomach.  When I get the courage to attempt the speech once more, all the words have already found my stomach way too comfortable to come out again.
you dig?

Distanced

I started this piece not knowing what it was going to be about.  One of the reasons I love about art is that no matter how well you had it planned out from the beginning, the end result will always surprise you. Not only by appearance but conceptually, the process grow into something way bigger than what you have started.
I always ridiculed when I hear others pursuing in long distance relationships until I found myself being apart of one. It is sad to think about how it has ended, but if you ask me if I would do it again, the answer is yes. I think if the person is significant enough to you, then the distance shouldn't matter.  It is cliche to think that the influence of a piece was one's relationship, but towards the end, the whole piece was essentially about layers of connection and emotion through distance. This piece is definitely a start of something new. The whole process was a big exploration for me. It was interesting to focus on the positive and negative space using white medium on black background. It is harder to create tonality when using white on black instead of black on white. Hopefully this will progress throughout the summer.
